Jochen Burrichter

Jochen Burrichter is retired. He was partner in the Düsseldorf office of Hengeler Mueller from 1977 on. He had also been actively involved in developing the firm’s Brussels office since 1989 Mr Burrichter received his legal education at the universities of Freiburg and Münster. Jochen Burrichter specialised in all areas of European and German competition law, with special emphasis on merger control. He was responsible for a large number of merger notifications to the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office and had also acted in various article 101 cases, namely cartel investigations. He represented clients before the General Court and Court of Justice of the European Union. Mr Burrichter was a member of the board for many years (Vorstand) and now is an honorary member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e V (German Antitrust Lawyers’s Association). He is a co-founder of the European Competition Lawyers’s Forum and past chairman of committee C (antitrust) of the business law section of the International Bar Association. Jochen Burrichter is a co-author of the German commentary on EU competition law Immenga/Mestmäcker: EU Competition Law. He lectured on German and European competition law at various international competition conferences and published several articles on European and German competition law.
