Jean-Louis Colson is head of unit at the Directorate General for mobility and transport of the European Commission. He graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Paris. He joined the Commission in 1985 and had been working since 1988 in DG Competition, in particular in Merger control and State aid control. He was appointed head of unit in the State Aid field in 1997 and has been successively in charge of Horizontal State aid, State aid in the Manufacturing Sector and since 2005 State aid to Financial Services.
