Harold Nyssens studied law at the Universities of Leuven, Edinburgh and Saarbrücken. He also teaches European competition policy in Leuven (MEEL programme), Bonn (MERNI programme) and Saarbrücken (MBA programme). Following activities in private practice and at the Court of First Instance in Luxemburg, he joined DG Competition in 2001. He held a range of positions most notably in the area of energy and state aid policy. He took up his current position as Deputy Head of Unit in the field of fiscal aid at DG Competition in August 2008.
