Filomena Chirico joined the European Commission in 2008 and is working for the Directorate General CNECT, dealing with digital policy, research and innovation, competition law and policy, economic regulation, internet governance, law and economics. She was in the team drafting the State aid Broadband Guidelines of 2009 and in charge of the revision. Filomena Chirico holds a law degree cum laude from Luiss University in Rome, a Master’s in Law and Economics jointly from the Universities of Rotterdam, Hamburg and Berkeley and a PhD from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a dissertation on the antitrust analysis of the Internet Governance. Before joining the Commission, she was teaching assistant at Luiss University in Romea and at the College of Europe in Bruges and Assistant Professor at Tilburg University, TILEC (Tilburg Law and Economics Center) dealing mainly with European competition law, regulation of network industries, Internet Governance, European contract law.
