Filomena Chirico

Policy Officer in charge of negotiations on competition and subsidy related questions

Filomena Chirico joined the Commission in 2008 and is primarily dealing with assessment of cases concerning the public funding of broadband networks. She was in the team drafting the State aid Broadband Guidelines of 2009 and in charge of the revision. Filomena Chirico holds a law degree cum laude from Luiss University in Rome, a Master’s in Law and Economics jointly from the Universities of Rotterdam, Hamburg and Berkeley and a PhD from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" with a dissertation on the antitrust analysis of the Internet Governance. Before joining the Commission, she was teaching assistant at Luiss University in Romea and at the College of Europe in Bruges and Assistant Professor at Tilburg University, TILEC (Tilburg Law and Economics Center) dealing mainly with European competition law, regulation of network industries, Internet Governance, European contract law.
