Etsuko Kameoka is a lawyer in the Brussels office of Geradin Partners. Etsuko specialises in EU competition law, with a particular emphasis on cartel investigations, commercial agreements, IP licensing issues, merger control proceedings, abuses of dominance cases and private damages actions. Etsuko also assists in creating corporate competition compliance programmes and conducts training sessions. Prior to joining Geradin Partners in 2022, Etsuko gained experience working in law firms in Europe. For the last 20 years, she has worked as an EU competition lawyer for Van Bael & Bellis. Etsuko’s work has been widely published in both Japan and Europe, including the book “Competition Law and Policy in Japan and the EU” (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2014) and the article “Proposals for Legal Professional Privileges in EU Competition Investigations” (Market and Competition Law Review, Vol. 6, No. 1). She is also a lecturer in law at various universities.Etsuko studied law at Keio University (Japan), the College of Europe (Belgium), New York University School of Law (USA), and the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (France). Etsuko also earned her Ph.D. in law with a thesis on EU competition law from the University of Brussels (Belgium).
