Mario Cistaro joined Axinn in New York in January 2022. His practice focuses on U.S. and European antitrust law, as well as intellectual property and unfair competition. Prior to joining Axinn, Mario was at the Antitrust Bureau of the New York State Office of the Attorney General, where he assisted in litigation of monopolization cases in pharmaceutical and digital markets as well as investigations of cooperative agreements and mergers in the airline and health care sectors. Mario Cistaro received an LLM in the field of Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary, University of London. He graduated with Honours at University of Perugia in 2007. He is a qualified lawyer, registered with the Italian Bar Association since 2010. He has held a PhD in Competition Law in 2011 with a dissertation on the interface between market for corporate control and enforcement of competition rules in Italy. He also published articles on the jurisdictional control of Italian Antitrust Authority decisions in 2013. His research interests are primarily in enforcement of EU and national competition rules and Intellectual Property law. In this respect, his LLM dissertation seeks to address issues related to the interface between Competition Law and IP rights. Currently, he is the LLM fellow and assistant editor of Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property.
