Christy Burzio joined the Clerksroom Chambers in 2018. She is a specialist civil and commercial barrister who was called to the Bar in 2010 at Lincoln’s Inn. She specialises in proceedings involving breach of contract, property (incl. landlord and tenant), debt recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency. Previously, Christy worked for the Financial Ombudsman Service as an adjudicator in banking resolution practices between financial institutions and consumers. Christy issued binding opinions to both parties, or chose to mediate or negotiate fair and reasonable settlements. In this role she obtained experience handling complex financial products including bonds, insurance policies, credit contracts and loan agreements. Christy also has a keen interest in alternative dispute resolution and worked as a researcher for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, she is now an associate member holding the title ACIArb. Christy also undertook the World Trade Institute Summer Programme in Switzerland which focused on International Investment and Trade Disputes, furthering her knowledge in Foreign Direct Investment and Trade Law.
