Yücel has worked for the Central Bank of Turkey for 1.5 years until 2007. Then he worked as a senior competition expert at the Turkish Competition Authority (TCA) between 2007-2018. In 2011 his expertise thesis titled as “Detecting Dominance in the Electricity Generation Market” was approved by the committee of the TCA. As a competition expert Yücel has worked in antitrust cases on cartels and unilateral conduct investigations mainly in fintech firms, insurance companies, energy, pharmaceuticals and chemistry industries and also handled many merger cases including privatizations of natural gas distribution and electricity distribution/generation companies. He also worked as an economist for the antitrust investigations on behalf of the TCA using technical tools and econometric models.

Currently, he is managing the competition compliance unit of Zorlu Holding A.Ş., one of the largest conglomerates in Turkey having operations globally in energy, electronics, textile, household appliances, mobile technologies, LED lighting, and defense industries
