Caroline Medina is Competition Law Legal Director at Alstom since November 2019. She has been working as Legal Counsel for Whirlpool France, Whirlpool Benelux, and KitchenAid EMEA between 2015 and 2019. She has previously been working as an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton in the Paris office between 2008 and 2015, where her practice focused on EU and French competition law (advice regarding commercial policies, distribution agreements, cooperation agreements; merger control; cartels; abuse of dominant position; State aids; implementation of compliance programs; follow-up private damage actions). Prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb, she was an associate at CMS Francis Lefebvre from 2004 to 2008 in the antitrust law/European law/regulation department. She has represented clients before the European Commission and the French Competition Authority in numerous antitrust investigations and merger control cases, and has been involved in litigation before EU and French courts. Her experience also covers distribution law, commercial agreements and consumer law (negotiation and conclusion of distribution, supply and cooperation agreements; management of distribution networks ; assistance regarding the commercial relationship with consumers), as well as advice and litigation regarding compatibility of French regulations with EU law (sectors opening up to competition; lobbying with national and European institutions; litigation against French regulations before French courts and the European Court of Justice ). Additionally, Caroline Medina interned at the French Competition Authority (Conseil de la concurrence) in Paris in 2002.
