Since 2004 Bente Tranholm Schwarz is working in the unit responsible for State aid policy development in DG Competition. She has been involved in the drafting of the State Aid Action Plan and the revision of State aid rules related to risk capital, environmental protection and research, development and innovation. In addition, she worked on the implementation of the refined economic approach in State aid policy. Previously, she has worked as a national expert in DG Competition dealing with State aid cases in the shipbuilding and steel sector. Apart from her experience in DG Competition, she has worked in the Danish Ministry of Business and Industry. In 1999 she became the assistant to the state secretary and head of his secretariat. Between 2001 and 2004 she was posted as industry counselor at the Danish Permanent Representation to the European Union and was part of the team that carried out the Danish Presidency in 2002. She holds two Master degrees in economics
