Amit Kapur is a senior partner and the chair of the Indian law firm JSA’s Regulatory and Policy Practice. His practice covers competition and infrastructure regulation, as also infrastructure projects in Energy (Power, Oil & Gas); Communications (Telecom & Broadcasting); Surface Transport (MRTS & Highways); Municipal Infrastructure (Water, Sanitation, Waste Management); and Social/Developmental projects. In this practice, he has advices leading Indian corporates (like the Tatas, Reliance), various multinational corporations, governments, development financial institutions TWorld Bank, ADB, IFC, WSP-SA, PPIAF et al) and regulatory agencies. He has done salutary work in evolving legal policy and regulatory framework, besides several of the pathbreaking transactions in India. He has also led istrategies and arguments in several precedent setting regulatory, anti-competitive issues and commercial disputes in India. Amit specialises in commercial, regulatory and constitutional dispute resolution in diverse fora including Monopolies and Restrict Trade Practices (MRTP) Commission, the Supreme Court of India, High Courts of various states, District Courts, the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, Central and State Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal, Company Law Board, Arbitral Tribunals, conciliation boards and other ADR mechanisms. Amit has been regularly rated as a leading Indian lawyer in the Projects space by IFLR and Asia Legal 500 and is a regular speaker at International & National conferences/workshops on issues of policy, law, regulation, project finance, reforms and private participation in Infrastructure. He has published articles on these subjects in established journals magazines and conferences.
