Alberto Escudero is head of the Baker & McKenzie’s Competition Law Practice in Madrid. Alberto advises on Spanish and EU Competition Law in areas such as: (i) merger control proceedings (European Commission, Spanish Competition Authority and multi-jurisdictional filings); (ii) proceedings concerning restrictive practices (cartels and abuses of dominant position); (iii) assessment on the compatibility with Competition Law of vertical / horizontal agreements and unilateral practices; and (iv) compliance programs. He is a member of the Madrid Bar and of the Spanish Defence of Competition Association. He frequently participates in seminars and conferences relating to Competition Law and is the author / co-author of several Competition Law books and articles. He has been working since 1998 at the Garrigues EU and Competition Law Department in Madrid. He spent one year working at the Garrigues Brussels office (1999/2000). He obtained the Degree in Law (specialization in EU Law) at the University San Pablo-CEU (Madrid) in 1996 and a post-degree Diploma in EU Law at the University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris) in 1997.
