Head of Unit

Adolfo Barberá del Rosal is Head of Unit at the European Parliament, currently seconded to the Brexit Task Force under the leadership of Michel Barnier. Between 2010 and 2017 he was the Head of the Secretariat of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament and, before that, an administrator in the same Secretariat (2007-2010). Before joining the European Parliament, he was an official of the European Commission for 15 years, with the larger part of his Commission career spent in the policy areas of Competition (State Aid [1998-2001]; antitrust [2005-2007]) and External Relations (DG Development [1992-1997]; EC Delegation in Argentina [2002-2005]). He started his professional career at Kemmler Rapp Böhlke and Crosby (1990-1992), acquiring extensive experience in the areas of antitrust and merger control. He holds a Degree in law (Universidad de Valencia, Spain) and a Special Degree in European Law (Institut d’Etudes Europeennes, Université Libre de Bruxelles).
