Competition Law in Singapore, CHONG Kin Lim and EE-KIA Ng, Kluwer Law International, 2014, 200 p.

The authors of this book co-head Drew & Napier’s competition law & regulatory practice in Singapore. They offer a comprehensive practical view of competition law in Singapore.

To begin with, the book offers an instructive economic, legal and historical introduction to the competition system in Singapore. Next, the book is divided into three parts. The first deals with the structure of antitrust law and its enforcement in Singapore, more specifically the sources and the scope of application of antitrust law, an overview of substantive provisions and main notions of antitrust law, the consequences of violations of the provisions of antitrust law and the role played by the enforcement institutions in Singapore. The second concentrates on the application of the prohibitions, namely the restrictive agreements, dominant undertakings’ prohibited practices and the concentrations. The third gives a broad picture of the administrative procedure with the administrative investigations before the Singapore antitrust authority, the voluntary notifications and clearance decisions in merger control.

We strongly recommend this book to international practitioners and researchers who are eager to learn about new competition systems and to be informed about leading Singaporean cases in competition law. The advantage of the book is that it is concise, clear and complete. Moreover, it provides relevant information on the substance and the procedure of competition law in Singapore.
