1. India has a competition law since 2002, but it is only recently that the competition law regime has been effectively implemented. What are the reasons that explain this delay ?

2. How receptive has the business community been to the need for competition law in India ? How do you intend to promote awareness and compliance to competition law ?

3. What are the key issues for rolling out merger control ?

4. Are the current procedures followed by the CCI in compliance with the principle of due process ? What are the internal checks and balances in the decision-making power of the CCI ? What are the external checks and balances, in particular the scope of judicial review of the authority’s decisions ?

5. What are, in your view, the main obstacles to the promotion of competitive markets in India ?

6. What are the enforcement priorities for CCI ?

7. Has the CCI powers to act against public restrictions to competition ? Would this be a priority area for the CCI ?

8. Does the CCI have adequate resources ? What are the current and the projected levels for staffing for the next few years ?

9. Tell us about the first case you have initiated.

10. What is the role of economic analysis in the enforcement of competition law by the CCI ?

11. What role do you see for CCI regionally and globally ?
