The Cypriot Commission for the Protection of Competition holds the telecommunications to have abused its dominant position in the SMS market (Thunderworx / Cyprus Telecommunications Authority)

By its decision 132/2008 ("the Decision") and acting on the basis of an official complaint [1] submitted by Thunderworx Ltd ("Thunderworx") against the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority ("CYTA"), the Cyprus Commission for the Protection of Competition ("CPC") found the latter party to have abused its dominant position in the Premium SMS market, in violation of article 6(1)(b) of the Protection of Competition Law 13(I) of 2008 ("Law 13(I)/2008"). Thunderworx is a limited liability company duly incorporated and operating in Cyprus, active and licensed to operate in the national electronic communications market.
