The European Court of Justice upholds fines imposed in steel beams cartel and alloy surcharge cartel cases (ArcelorMittal)

On 29 March 2011, the European Court of Justice (“ECJ”) dismissed an appeal brought by ArcelorMittal Luxembourg SA (formerly Arbed SA) against the judgment of the General Court confirming the Commission’s decision to impose a fine totalling € 10 million on it for its participation in a cartel on the steel beams market. On the same date, the ECJ also dismissed in its entirety an action by ThyssenKrupp Stainless AG(formerly Krupp
