The Hellenic Competition Authority clears an acquisition of joint control over a dairy milk company subject to commitments (Delta Foods / Mevgal)

Under its decision No. 650/2017 the Hellenic Competition Commission (HCC) approved the acquisition of joint control of Mevgal SA by Delta Food SA and members of the Hatzakou family. Delta Food S.A., member of the Vivartia Group of companies, produces and distributes dairy products such as, milk, yoghurt, cheeses and fresh fruit juices and is considered as a leading player in the relevant markets. Mevgal SA is also active in the dairy products markets. The HCC, after an in depth investigation, cleared the concentration, subject to certain commitments in order to address competition concerns as regards the relevant Greek dairy markets. In particular commitments were imposed in order to prevent the creation or reinforcement of dominant position in the relevant markets of raw cow's milk
