The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine adopts a new merger regulation

On 19 August 2016 the new Merger Regulation became effective in Ukraine. It simplifies the merger review procedure in two ways. First, in most cases, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMC) reduces the amount of information required from the parties. Second, the AMC takes measures to streamline the so-called ‘simplified’ review procedure. The revision (i) aligns the Merger Regulation with the earlier law improving (among others) the notifiability thresholds in mid-May, (ii) reduces the burden on business and (iii) makes the Ukrainian merger control regime more consistent with international standards.
