Valerio is an Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, a Research Fellow at Stanford Law School, an Adjunct Professor at LUISS Guido Carli, and a Research Fellow at the LUISS Law & Economics LAB. He practices EU/domestic competition law and international commercial arbitration and his professional portfolio for antitrust/competition law includes cartels, restrictive horizontal and vertical practices, abuse of dominant position and economic dependence, antitrust private damages litigation, antitrust compliance, merger integration planning and merger control filings. As for arbitration, Valerio has acted as counsel and ad-hoc clerk in ICC, CAS/TAS, CAM, AIA arbitration proceedings. Further, Valerio has a specific expertise in TMT, media and financial services as well as construction and engineering. Valerio holds a basic law degree (Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza, 2009) from LUMSA University in Rome, earned with full marks and honours. Further, having graduated from the triple-degree European Master in Law and Economics (2011), he received an LL.M. from the University of Hamburg (Germany), an LL.M. from the University of Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and a M.A. from the University of Gent (Belgium). In 2013 Valerio spent a full year as Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School in Cambridge MA (USA). In 2015 he received his Ph.D. in Law and Economics from LUISS Guido Carli. In addition, he held positions as Research Assistant at both Harvard Law School and LUISS. At LUISS Valerio is also a Teaching Assistant in: Private Law; Markets, Regulations and Law; Law and Economics and Comparative Law. At Università degli Studi della Tuscia he served as Graduate Assistant in Public International Law. Fluent in English (full professional knowledge) and Italian (native speaker), he is actively learning Arabic and speaks basic German. Further, he has a reading knowledge of French and Spanish.
