Barry E. Hawk advises clients primarily in the areas of European Union and national antitrust laws and merger controls, European Union regulatory law, U.S. antitrust law and merger control laws throughout the world. He has advised on EU and European Law in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, privatizations, distribution and licensing, enforcement actions and litigation, public procurement, project financing, state aids or government subsidies, and various regulatory matters for Ecolab, Inc., Hexcel Corporation, Iberia Airlines, MacAndrews & Forbes, International Paper Company, Metallgesellschaft AG, Methanex Corp., OMV AG, Republic of Greece, Republic of Ireland, Schering-Plough Corporation, Schneider, S.A., TeleDanmark, Textron Inc. and Turner Broadcasting System. For many years Professor Hawk has conducted annual seminars on antitrust law and policy for officials of the Commission of the European Communities as well as officials and judges for antitrust authorities throughout the world. He also has served as a consultant to the Commission’s Legal Service and to the OECD. Professor Hawk has authored many books and articles on European and U.S. antitrust and trade laws. He has co-authored, with Henry Huser of the firm’s Brussels Office, a book on European merger controls. Professor Hawk was selected for inclusion in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2006.
